The roaming charges between Romania and the Republic of Moldova are as high as if were talking to Australia and New Zealand. The statement belongs to the Romanian ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, Daniel Ioniță, and was made at "Article VII" show on TVR International.

"For the first time we talked about the elimination of roaming charges between Romania and the Republic of Moldova on the occasion of the centenary anniversary, on December 1st, 2018. Otherwise, the roaming charges between Romania and the Republic of Moldova are very, very high, they are almost as high as if we talked to Australia or New Zealand, "said Daniel Ioniță.

The Romanian ambassador to Chisinau specified that through the will of both sides of the Prut this situation could be remedied for the benefit of citizens of both states. "I don't think it's normal. And I am convinced that the will of both sides will help identify a solution for the benefit of citizens on the two banks of the Prut,” stated Daniel Ioniță.

The Romanian diplomat mentioned that a connection between Romania and the Republic of Moldova must be established also with regard to the roaming issue.

At a press conference held at IPN, the leader of Save Bessarabia Union Political Party, Valeriu Munteanu, said that the charges for the talks between Romania and the Republic of Moldova were very high and unjustified, and that this fact hindered the creation of a single communication space for the two Romanian states.

The issue of roaming charges was also addressed by the Foreign Minister, Nicu Popescu, who, in a video interview given to IPN Press Agency, mentioned that the institution led by him was interested in building a common communication infrastructure with Romania.
