Altercations between residents and peacekeepers in Vadul lui Voda

The day of April 12 started with altercations between inhabitants of the villages situated near the peacekeeping post in Vadul lui Voda and servicemen. The head of Dubasari district Grigore Polichinski has told Info-Prim Neo that the altercations began after the Transnistrian military men launched a provocation. “It was a provocation staged by the Transnistrian forces that tried to set up barriers at the peacekeeping post. Locals, employees of the Dubasari district council and police officers intervened. Measures were taken to remove the barriers. But the peacekeepers put up resistance,” said Grigore Polichinski, adding that nobody was hurt and the situation is being monitored. On January 1, a Russian peacekeeper shot fatally a young man from Pirita, Dubasari at the peacekeeping post in Vadul lui Voda. After the incident, the residents of the villages located nearby staged a series of protests. The metallic bars and concrete blocks were removed from the roadway.
