Nearly 80 homeless persons stayed at the center for persons without a stable domicile situated at Haltei St in Chisinau on January 9. Six of the persons were brought to the center by the police in the evening of January 8, while the rest came by themselves, IPN reports.
According to the center’s director Andrei Rotaru, when the temperatures are low the shelter can accommodate about 60 persons who stay during the day as well. They are served three meals a day.
The local public administration of Chisinau municipality calls on the citizens who are in difficulty to go to the temporary accommodation center that can be contacted on (022) 35-40-38, (022) 35-40-39.
The center can house 100 persons. During November 1 – March 31, it provides accommodation services for beneficiaries round-the-clock.
Weather forecasters issued a yellow code warning for difficult meteorological conditions for January 10 and 11. According to the State Hydrometeorological Service, there will be heavy snowfalls of 15-20 l/m2, in parts of up to 25 l/m2, on Thursday and Friday. Snowdrifts will form on roads and glazed frost will appear on branches and electrical cables. The northwestern wind will intensify to 15-20 m/s.
