If the referendum on joining the European Union was held next Sunday, about 48% of the Moldovans would vote in favor of amending the Constitution in this regard. Another 37% would not support such a move, 9.4% do not know/did not decide, 1.7% did not answer, while 4% would not vote or would spoil the ballot, shows the barometer presented by the sociological company Data Inteligente in a news conference hosted by IPN.

According to Date Inteligente deputy director Veronica Ateș, the central districts of the country would vote “for” the introduction of the EU accession in the Constitution, while Gagauzia, the southern districts and some of the northern districts would vote “against”.

Over 46% of the respondents said they are against Moldova’s rapprochement with Russia and the countries of the Eurasian Union, whereas about 44% said they are in favor. About 10% did not answer the question.

Approximately 89% of those surveyed said that they will vote in this autumn’s presidential election. Slightly over 9% said they will not vote, while 2% did not answer the question.

Also, 27.5% said they will vote for Maia Sandu in the next presidential election, 11.6% for Renato Usatyi, 11.4% for Alexandr Stoianoglo. About 15% have not decided who to vote for. According to Veronica Ateș, this gives politicians the opportunity to convince them.

To the open question which politician was the most active one in the last 30 days, most of those polled mentioned Maia Sandu, followed by Ilan Shor and Renato Usatyi. The same political figures are the most trusted politicians.

In case of parliamentary elections, 25.5% of the respondents of the poll would vote for the PAS, 11.8% for “Victory” Bloc, 11.1% for the PSRM and 7.7% for Our Party. Of those who made up their mind, 37% would vote for the PAS, 17.1% for “Victory” Bloc, 16.1% for the PSRM and 11.2% for Our Party.

According to the survey, 42.5% of those interviewed believe that things in the country follow the right direction. 47.2% consider that the direction is wrong and 10.3% did not know or did not answer the question. The percentage of those who believe that the direction is correct has increased. The most optimistic ones are the inhabitants of the localities of central and central-western districts, while the less optimistic ones are those from the north, south and southwest of the country.

The survey covered a sample of 1,004 people from 372 localities and was carried out during August 19-25. The maximum sampling error is 3%.
