More than 970,000 voters or almost 33% of the electorate cast their ballots by 2pm, in contrast to over 25% by this hour in the first round of the presidential elections, IPN reports.

In the municipality of Chisinau, 201,000 voters or 31% of the electors made their choice by 2pm, as against almost 24% in the first round.

Nationwide, 37.633% of those who voted are aged between 56 and 70, 24.33% – between 41 and 55, 20.42% - between 26 and 40, 10.91% - older than 71, 6.71% - between 18 and 25. The ratio of female voters to male voters was 53.26%:46.74%.

As many as 127,000 Moldovans marked their ballots by this hour outside the country.

Polling stations in Moldova are open until 9pm, but their program can be extended by two hours if need be. In the runoff vote, the elections are declared valid regardless of the voter turnout. The candidate with the highest score is declared winner. If both of the candidates get the same score, the candidate who gained more votes in the first round emerges victorious.
