Nearly 200 budget-funded places remained unfilled at the Tiraspol University “Taras Shevchenko”, especially at the faculty of teaching. According to the preliminary results of the admission session, the faculties of economy and law continue to be the most popular, IPN reports.

The university’s first pro-rector Natalia Kunichenko was quoted by “Novyi Region” Agency as saying that 16 persons competed for one place at the two faculties. According to her, young people’s preferences this year didn’t coincide with the region’s needs again. The specialties that are in great demand on the labor market are not very popular with the applicants to the Tiraspol university.

“As many as 185 places financed from the budget remained unoccupied. These are mainly at the faculty of teaching. At the faculty of agronomy, only three of the five specialties were in demand. Vacant places remained at the other two specialties,” said the first pro-rector.

The unfilled places will be put up for contest in the second admission round in August.
