The allusions about early elections point to the political class’ irrespirable approach and to an arrogant treatment of the public at a time when society needs stability and vision on the continuation of reforms, consider representatives of civil society, who made an appeal to the political leaders, urging them to be calm and to have a decent behavior, Info-Prim Neo reports. Antonita Fonari, secretary of the NGO Council of Moldova, told a news conference that civil society has held discussions with the political leaders, trying to convince them to bring the disputes inside the AEI to an end and to show common sense. “Unfortunately, we saw the apogee. This game to measure the power made it clear that the ruling political class realized that the power belongs only to them. They forgot that behind there are many people who work, pay taxes and send home money, civil society, the mass media, etc. It is good that they control each other, but this should be done decently,” said Antonita Fonari. According to the representatives of civil society, new elections would mean the same persons, but in a different number in power. “They play with the people’s money and blackmail persons. It is important that we say that we no longer want to live in such a country, with such rulers. The dirtiness and blackmail must stop,” stated the secretary of the NGO Council. In the same connection, the chairman of the NGO Council Sergiu Ostaf said that many difficult situations were inherited from the past and these difficulties block the normal development of society in the European integration process. As to the ministers who are under investigation, Sergiu Ostaf said the posts have been always used to gain personal advantages, but these cases are not a pretext for initiating early elections as the announced reforms should be continued. Sergiu Ostaf also said that the political instability in Moldova can lead to the postponement of the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU and the implementation of the plan of action on the liberalization of the visa regime and to a slowdown in implementing the Free Trade Agreement. Civil society recommends avoiding early elections and managing the cases of corruption and abuse of power in a way that can minimize the escalation of political speculations.
