The participants in regional and international Olympiads will receive higher allowances for eating during the competition and for purchasing stationery. The Cabinet on December 19 approved the regulations concerning the supporting of talented students in a move to promote remarkable results and to ensure the remuneration of teachers who prepare the tests.
Thus, the food allowance for students will rise from 100 to 250 lei a day, while the allowance for stationary will increase to 400 lei.
The persons of the working group for preparing the tests will receive 1,500 lei a month, up from 984 lei at present. The teachers will also receive an additional payment of 1,000 lei for translating a test paper from Romanian into another language.
The remuneration of teachers will rise from 25 lei to 120 lei an hour for activities to support talented students at camps for training Olympic squads, Sunday schools and distance learning centers.
The members of the juries of Olympiads will also get higher pays, of 60 lei an hour in national competitions and of 80 lei in regional and international competitions, up from the current 25 lei an hour.
