The families of persons who were awarded the Oder of the Republic or the Order “Stephan the Great” posthumously will receive financial support from the state. The Cabinet approved a bill to amend and supplement the Law on Veterans that was proposed by a group of MPs, IPN reports.

The bill suggests providing allowances for special merits before the state to the wife or husband of the person awarded posthumously if these were married on the day of the death or to the mother or father of the person awarded posthumously if the person wasn’t married, if these do not benefit from pension or state social benefit.

A sum of 17.9 million lei will be transferred from the state budget to the state social insurance budget for paying social allowances for special merits before the state in 2018.
