As of April 1, the daily allowances granted to children without parental protection who were placed in foster care will be indexed by 6.97%. A decision to this effect was approved by the Cabinet, IPN reports.
According to the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, the value of 6.97% reflects the increase in the consumer price index for the previous year, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics.
"We work out policies to improve children's living standards. We will also continue to increase the allowances and benefits for all the children in the Republic of Moldova," said Dumitru Pîslaru, secretary general of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection.
The new values of daily allowances will increase from 23 lei to 25 lei on ordinary days, from 190 lei to 204 lei on the child's birthday and from 135 lei to 145 lei on public holidays.
According to the Ministry, about 3,000 children will benefit from such allowances in 2025. For these payments, 18.4 million lei was earmarked in the state budget for 2025.
