The allowance of 16,000 lei intended for medical workers who got infected at the workplace and that of 100,000 lei for relatives in case of death hasn’t been paid since January 1, 2021, Minister of Health Ala Nemerenco informed in Parliament, being quoted by IPN.

The official said that a debt of 56.8 million lei was collected as 3,500 health workers haven’t been paid allowances. The minister suggested inviting the former minister of finance for explaining why the given payments haven’t been made. Ala Nemerenco also said that the amendments made to the 2021 state budget envision the allocation of funds for paying the overdue amounts.

The minister made the statements after BCS MP Vladimir Odnostalco said there are worrisome signals that the legality of the provision of 16,000 lei to the medical staff that contracted COVID-19 at the workplace can be reexamined.
