Alliance seeks to sack Ion Muruianu

The Alliance for European Integration wants to sack the chairman of the Supreme Justice Court, Ion Muruianu. The Liberal Party leader, Mihai Ghimpu, said that several legislative proposals were under preparation in this regard. Speaker Marian Lupu declared that serious reforms were needed at the Supreme Justice Court, but didn’t give any details, Info-Prim Neo reports. “Muruianu is tired. He needs a rest”, said Mihai Ghimpu. The Liberal leader complained about the situation in the judiciary. “Tomorrow, it won’t be a surprise if a local council cancels a Government decision or if the council of an electoral precinct annuls a decision of the Central Election Commission. This is a problem that must be solved by the Alliance. Everybody must know there is power in the state and that power is the law, to which one and all must obey. What’s happening today is incredible. Such things didn’t happen even during the Soviet regime”, said Ghimpu. Democrat leader Marian Lupu said that the Alliance had several plans regarding the judiciary reform, which included the Supreme Justice Court. “These will be really serious reforms”, said Marian Lupu. Previously, Ghimpu stated he would do his best to prevent decisions of inferior courts from getting into Ion Muruianu’s hands, as the latter was believed to support the Communists.
