After the Communist Party on Friday didn't show up at a roundtable meeting proposed by Democrat leader Marian Lupu in a bid to overcome the existing political crisis, the component parties of the ruling Eurointegration Alliance announced a second attempt would be held on Saturday, October 1, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“We waited for our colleagues from the parliamentary opposition, but as they themselves had declared, they didn't show up. However, we will give them a second chance to come. We will not put any pressure, we will not tell them how many members they should bring at the negotiations. If people really want to negotiate, there shouldn't be conditions”, Marian Lupu stated after the roundtable.
He didn't give details about the talks held on Friday, saying statements in this respect would be made in due time.
Earlier, Communist leader Vladimir Voronin said that his party would not join the roundtable and that the government should at first sort things out within the Alliance
The refusal also comes in reaction to the fact that the parliamentary majority postponed the consideration of a Communist proposal to hold presidential elections on October 17, said Sergei Sirbu, the party's chief lawyer.
