All persons who return from infection risk zones could be placed in quarantine

The Border Police will step up control measures at border crossing points and will identify mechanisms for immediately placing the persons who return from areas affected by the novel coronavirus in quarantine, President Igor Dodon was quoted by IPN as saying after the meeting of the Supreme Security Council.

A cell to monitor the situation and a Single Command Center that involves representatives of all the state institutions were set up within the Council. The Command Center will convene daily and the first meeting was set for 4:30pm this afternoon.

President Dodon said the Supreme Security Council examined four coronavirus spread scenarios. The authorities are now prepared for scenarios I and II. The hospitals reserved 400 places and there are sufficient doctors and medical supplies. In the eventuality of scenarios III and IV, if the number of confirmed cases of infection with COVID-19 will rise to 1,000 and over, Igor Dodon instructed the Ministry of Defense to consider the possibility of admitting patients with the coronavirus to hospitals of the Ministry.

The Council decided that the public institutions will be inspected to see if they have the necessary hygiene products and those who do not have these will be penalized. A circular to this effect was issued to the public institutions.

It is also examined the possibility of bringing home the pensions to recipients.

On March 12, Moldova will receive 1,000 coronavirus tests from the World Health Organization. President Dodon said tests are also transmitted to the Transnistrian region and the taken samples are brought to laboratories in Chisinau. No case of the novel coronavirus has been confirmed on the left side of the Nistru so far. Three cases of infection have been confirmed on the right side of the river.
