All those interested can take part in the tenth European Night of Museums on May 17. The event includes a number of events such as recitals of poetry, roundtable meetings and plays, IPN reports.
The National Museum of Arts will stage a program titled “Night when you cannot hide from arts” between 6pm and 2am. Its grand hall will host a piano recital, a performance of classical music, a recital of guitar and other musical instruments. In the evening, there will be held painting workshops and screenings. The band “Veriga” will give a rock concert in the square “Onisifor Ghibu” between 10pm and 11pm.
The activities at the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History will start at 10am and will last by midnight. There will be mounted an exhibition titled “United through Diversity” that will show national costumes of the world’s peoples. In the afternoon, the national minorities living in Moldova will stage a folkloric performance. A fashion show in ethnic style entitled “Ethno” will take place afterward. In the evening, those attending will be able to take part in a drumming masterclass given by Alexandru Voroniuc. The club “Ensifer” will present medieval battles. Craftsmen and their pupils will show how to work wood and clay.
The National Museum of History of Moldova will host an exhibition of military decorations, workshops, concerts, games and contests, performances of historical and contemporary dances, and the children’s fair. The children can bring toys that they no longer use and exchange them with other children or donate them to an orphanage.
This year, the Ministry of Culture will award the Ministry’s Trophy for special contribution to developing the network of museums and excellence diplomas.
During the European Night of Museums last year, the national museums were visited by over 25,000 people. The event is organized by more than 3,000 museums from 47 countries.
