Al the pro-European parties and the people who want a European future for the Republic of Moldova should come to the Great National Assembly Square on May 21 and transmit a clear message that we are ready and want in Europe, PAS MP Alina Dandara stated in a public debate staged by IPN.

According to her, the society’s participation in the National Assembly convoked by President Maia Sandu is even more important when 50 leaders of EU member states will come together in Moldova on June 1. “From my viewpoint, this event should be apolitical as we must make sure that we will fulfill this commitment we promised to the citizens of the Republic of Moldova by 2030, no matter what parties are in power. The PAS is in power now and a large part of the actions that need to be taken to come closer to the EU have been implemented. All those who want to see welfare and a safe future in the Republic of Moldova should undertake the common commitment and come together to support it,” stated Alina Dandara.

She also said that the authorities’ effort should be encouraged and supported by the citizens as the set goals can be achieved only together and the events programmed for May 21 and June 1 are a good occasion for this. The summit that will take place on June 1 represents a common effort of the citizens by which they undertake the commitment to make effort to join the European community, to fulfill particular conditions or recommendations so as to improve the living standards. It is an occasion for promoting local products, for showing how beautiful Moldova is and why it is worth investing in our country,” stated the PAS MP.

Alina Dandara also said that the discomfort created to the citizens by the measures taken to organize the summit is insignificant against the benefits that Moldova, its citizens and business entities will obtain. “It is a rather beneficial opportunity for each of us to try and promote the Moldovan products. These opportunities will grow in the future given also the Republic of Moldova’s courage to undertake to organize this summit. We managed to attract the most important European leaders to our country and we try to promote us. This summit is an opportunity for creating new partnerships and for becoming a platform for attracting investors,” noted the MP.

The public debate entitled “European Political Community Summit: responsibilities and opportunities for political class” was the first installment of IPN’s project “Support for European Integration by stimulating discussion in the mass media about the organization of the European Political Community (EPC) Summit in Moldova” that is supported by Soros Foundation Moldova.
