Judoka Alin Bagrin finished fifth at the Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games. He started the competition in the 100 kg weight category with a defeat, losing to the future bronze winner Zsombor Veg of Hungary, IPN reports.
In the playoffs, Bagrin scored two victories, against Fleury Nihozeko of Burundi and Abolfazi Shojaei of Iran, but was beaten by Turkey’s Omer Aydin in the match for the bronze medal. Bekarys Saduakas of Kazakhstan became Olympic champion.
In sprint canoe, Ivan Korshunov ranked sixth. He reached the finish line second in final B with the time of 1:40.06. The race was won by Ukraine’s Ivan Tyshchenko with 1:32.47.
