Alexei Zavatin scored a victory at the World Boxing Championship that is taking place in Germany’s Hamburg. The 30-year-old athlete beat Argentine’s Luis Calderon without difficulty, IPN reports.
In the second round in the evening of August 28, Zavatin plays against Fokou Arsene of Cameroon. Alexei Zavatin is taking part in the World Boxing Championship for the second time in his career. He is competing in the super heavyweight division.
Another pupil of coach Petru Caduc, Vasile Belous, lost to India’s Manoj Kumar in the 69 kg weight class.
The competition held in Germany ends on September 2.
