The Moldovan swimmers have won 14 medals at an international tournament held in Slovenia. Among them, Alexei Sankov won four gold medals, IPN reports.
In 200 m butterfly, Sankov set a new record for Moldova – 54.17 seconds. In 2015, he also broke the record for the 200 m freestyle, which had been held for 27 years by Yuri Bashkatov, who medaled bronze at the Olympic Games of 1988 and 1992, in the 4x100 m freestyle relay.
At the tournament in Slovenia, medals were also won by juniors Nikita Botnikov, Pavel Alovatskii and Stefan Iosin.
