Info-Prim Neo News Agency has launched an opinion poll on the settlement of the Transnistrian conflict among leaders of political parties, representatives of the civil society, and opinion shapers from both banks of the Nistru. The survey is aimed at finding out viewpoints that could contribute to the improvement of the present situation. All the participants were asked the same two questions. This time, the answers are given by Alexei Catana, the president of the association TraDeM from Rabnita, former president of the non-governmental organization “Evrica” (AO “Evrica” has been founded by the parents of the pupils studying at the Evrica lyceum from Rabnita.) [ - How can the Transnistrian dispute be solved in your opinion? In what way, through what mechanisms and during what terms is a settlement possible? ] - It would be ideally that Transnistria should remain a component part of Moldova without any special rights. Yet we are realists and realize that, without granting a special status to the area, the country's reintegration will not be possible. The name this status will have matters less than the possibility of really reintegrating the state and creating conditions of impossibility for the breakaway wishes to invigorate again. The reintegration will be possible on in case new leaders come to power on the both banks, who would have the will to really work for this desideratum. No doubt, much depends on the Great Powers. When do you think the effort made by the authorities will begin to produce results and what results we can expect? ] Any attempts are welcome, only if they do not take place for the sake of initiatives. The people from both banks shall feel the beneficial results of these talks, as for example there would be liquidating the check posts, simplifying the free movement, the possibility ofr the schools teaching with Latin letters to work normally etc. We're aware the present Tiraspol leadership wants to change nothing, as much depends on the Chisinau leadership. The final results can appear later. It is important to manage to make everything possible that minds of the people, especially on the left bank, should form the thought that the state's reintegration is unavoidable.
