The chairman of the parliamentary Commission of Inquiry into banking fraud, PPDA MP, ACUM bloc, Alexandru Slusari, said that after the publishing the Commission's report he expects that within 30 days the Prosecutor's Office will issue a report on the institution's actions and inaction regarding the banking fraud. Additionally, the deputy expects that the Prosecutor's Office will answer why has the institution sabotaged the bank fraud investigation over the course of 4 years and expects that it will initiate a criminal case in order to investigate the sabotage.
In his opinion, the prosecutors who dealt with this case could be held liable for inaction. "Everything that was done, was absolute sabotage and was done for political purposes", added Slusari in the TV8 show "Politica Nataliei Morari".
The MP considers that the Commission report is a solid foundation stone in the bank fraud case. "I very much hope that the achievements of this report will be expanded in the near future, that justice will be served to the involved criminals and at least some of the money will be returned", said Alexandru Slusari.
Socialist MP Vladimir Golovatiuc, a member of the same commission, claimed that tens of people were involved in the "theft of a billion" operation and that all of them are guilty to some extent, ranging from simple employees to the heads of banks, party chairpersons, prime ministers and heads of different institutions. According to him, Ilan Șor is a beneficiary of the bank fraud, however, he was the executor and the de facto head of the three bank financial group - BEM, Unibank and Banca Socială. "He is an executor who was fulfilling someone else's will. In 2012 and 2013 he was carrying out Vlad Filat's will, then, through schemes, he enacted Vladimir Plahotniuc's will”, said Vladimir Golovatiuc.
Democrat MP Andrian Candu said that, as far as he is aware, former PDM leader Vladimir Plahotniuc has not benefited from the billion dollar theft, "only the courts and prosecutors will decide whether he has any involvement and whether or not he has benefited from the theft". Moreover, the Democrat added that investigations, accusations and convictions must not be issued by politicians, but by law enforcement agencies. Andrian Candu said that the parliamentary commission chairman, Alexandru Slusari, has made accusations that are no longer political appraisals. "Those who are involved in bank fraud, those who committed the bank fraud and who benefited from it must answer before the law. The state must take every available action in order to recover the assets", added Andrian Candu.
Yesterday, the parliamentary Commission for the elucidation of all the circumstances of the banking system heist and the investigation of the banking fraud published the activity report and found that the banking system heist was a well-prepared operation that was coordinated with politicians and state dignitaries. The Commission also found that the amount stolen from the banking system, according to the Kroll report, ranges from $ 900 million to $ 1 billion. The main final beneficiaries of the bank robbery were "Plahotniuc, Șor and Filat groups".
