The deputy head of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” Alexandru Slusari considers President Maia Sandu and the leader of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon earlier had discussions similar to those held on March 16. “Bilateral negotiations were held to agree the date of elections so that it suits both of them, by maintaining the current executive,” said Alexandru Slusari, being quoted by IPN.

“I haven’t seen a more corrupt president than Igor Dodon and a more cynical politician than Missis Maia Sandu. I repeat, I do not have what to lose and I can answer for my words. Moreover, Missis President Sandu can confirm this herself. We thoroughly discussed, during an hour, the roadmap of the PPPDA with the analysis of risks, given that it is very hard to believe in the PSRM. Even if the variant with the Ciocoi Government was and is more tragic for the country, I understood that Missis Sandu and the PAS supported then the idea of strengthening the interim Cabinet. We heard the same messages earlier from the Socialists,” the MP posted on Facebook.

Alexandru Slusari said that after the discussions with the Socialist parliamentary group, which involved Igor Dodon, President Sandu, without consulting the former alliance partners at least by phone, nominated her own candidate, but this candidate hadn’t been discussed in the negotiations held earlier the same day. However, Maia Sandu’s move didn’t bring the snap parliamentary elections closer, but rather strengthened the toxic majority.

After the negotiations held with the parliamentary groups on March 16, President Maia Sandu said that she took note of Mariana Durleșteanu’s decision to withdraw her candidacy for premiership and, as there is no candidate supported by a formalized parliamentary majority at present, she decided to propose PAS president Igor Grosu for Prime Minister.

On March 17, the Party of Socialists challenged the presidential decree in the Constitutional Court and announced that they would present another candidate for Premier on March 18.
