Alexandru Slusari, of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform”, said the billion law should be suspended after this decision was initially agreed with representatives of the IMF and the World Bank. In seven years of the commission of the largest theft in the country’s history, Slusari said there are modest chances for the stolen money to be recovered. For their part, representatives of the presidential administration shift the blame for the failure in investigating the bank on the prosecution service, IPN reports.

Alexandru Slusari said making the citizens to repay the stolen fund is a mistake. The law should be suspended. It was adopted by assumption of responsibility by the Filip Government and envisioned the conversion of the stolen sum into public debt. This way, the state undertook to repay this money during 25 years at an interest rate of 5%.

“We know almost fully how those events developed. In the period, the stolen money could have been recovered, but no progress has been made. We now have to solve the problem of the billion law and should not make this theft the people’s burden. I consider the law should be at least suspended. The billion theft culminated in November 2014. But the start of the robbing of the banking system was planned by Plahotniuc and Platon in 2011,” Alexandru Slusari stated in the tall show “Black Box” on TV8 channel.

Presidential adviser Veaceslav Negruță said the investigation bodies are to blame for the failure of this case. During a long period of time, the law, being supported by political factors, only removed the traces of this theft.

“Since 2014, we have had all the necessary components: independent experts, representatives of Kroll, journalistic investigations. After 2019, we had a special commission in Parliament, which accumulated a lot of information and this information was submitted to prosecutors. But those who had access to information hushed things up and altered the society’s perception, ensuring the comfort of those who benefited from the theft and also reducing the chances of recovering the stolen billion,” stated Veaceslav Negruță.
