Alexandru Paraskiv became European boxing vice-champion in the 63.5 kg weight category, IPN reports.
He didn’t fight Russia’s Gabil Mamedov in the final because he was injured in a semifinal match against Azerbaijan’s Malik Hasanov. Alexandru will make effort to recover until the last pre-Olympic tournament set to take place from May 23 until June 3 in Thailand.
Earlier, two other Moldavian boxers climbed on to the winner’s rostrum at the European Boxing Championships held in Belgrade. Daria Cozorez became European champion in the +81 kg category, while Vasile Cebotari won the bronze medal in the 71 kg category.
