The head of the General Police Inspectorate Alexandru Pânzari said the equipment of police officers and investing in the behavior of the police are two key financing directions in the activity of the institution. Emphasis is mainly placed on the strengthening of the communication capacities of the police. The issue was developed in the talk show “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, IPN reports.
“The better we are, the more we will communicate and the better will be the people’s reaction. If we embrace all the sections of society, we will reach every citizen and will show that we are professionals and intervene on time, we communicate correctly and the people’s response will be appropriate,” stated Alexandru Pânzari.
As regards corruption in the police, Alexandru Pânzari said the number of criminal cases started against police officers over acts of corruption decreased significantly, 4-5 times. There were recorded 4-5 times more self-denouncing statements by police officers who confessed that they were given bribe. But there are yet cases of corruption among police officers. “We work more on the prevention of corruption. We stage training seminars about the risk of corruption and the consequences of corruption,” stated the official.
Alexandru Pânzari noted the police officers should be more active in the community. “We want to set up security councils in each community as an instrument of interaction of trainers and citizens in the locality where they periodically discuss the existing problems,” he said.
As to the election campaign, the police chief said the police officers do not receive political instructions and these will ensure public order all over the country in the period.
