The People’s Party of the Republic of Moldova (PPRM) is hopeful that a majority alliance will be yet formed in Moldova instead of the current minority alliance. In a news conference, the leader of the PPRM Alexandru Oleinic said that a minority alliance with the tacit support of the PCRM is dangerous for Moldova’s European future, IPN reports.

“I yet hope that the minority alliance will turn into a majority alliance with concrete parties that have pro-European views and proved that they can do something in this country,” stated Alexandru Oleinic. According to him, a minority alliance with the support of the Communists endangers the projects needed to continue the reforms and the implementation of the Association Agreement between Moldova and the EU, which will guarantee Moldova’s European course.

“Both the PLDM and the PDM won the people’s vote because they struggled to remove the Communists from power and promised a European Moldova to the people. This alliance, formed after dividing the portfolios and spheres of influence, is not based on a government program aimed at developing Moldova. It is a short-term alliance because more and more European officials now express their bewilderment at its formation,” said the leader of the PPRM.

The new alliance bears responsibility before the people and the European partners that offered a loan of confidence to Moldova. “To deserve this confidence, the future Government must immediately start to fulfill the following commitments: to adopt the package of laws on fiscal policy and the draft budget for 2015; to adopt bills providing measures for reforming the national economy and improving the business climate; to reduce the costs for maintaining the state apparatus,” stated Alexandru Oleinic. He also noted that the bills and programs initiated by the Leanca Government must be continued.

After two months of negotiations, the PLDM, PDM and PL could not reach a consensus. Ultimately, on January 23, the PLDM and PDM signed an agreement to form the Political Alliance for the European Moldova that does not enjoy majority support in Parliament.
