Former Minister of Information Technology Alexandru Oleinic, heavyweight of the former “Moldova Noastra” Alliance, considers the return of the Communist Party (PCRM) will become inevitable if the cold war in the ruling alliance persists and early legislative elections are held. He harshly criticized the Alliance for European Integration (AEI) for such a state of affairs, but called upon the voters to support it in the second round of the mayoral elections on June 19, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a statement issued by the former minister. ”The results of the June 5 local elections reduce to zero all the attempts taken by the democratic parties during the last few years to avoid the PCRM’s return to power. This will lead to Moldova’s self-isolation, including by ‘freezing’ the relations with the West, blocking the Transnistrian conflict and reintroducing obscure and monopolist schemes in the business sector. The results achieved, especially in Moldova’s capital city, reveal the people’s attitude towards the ruling alliance,” it is said in the statement. The former minister said the elections showed that a large part of the population is disappointed by the (AEI), especially some of its components. “The ruling alliance shows lack of political maturity and responsibility because the stiff competition in which the member parties are involved has nothing to do with the real national interests. By trying to shift the blame on the youth or the press they only admit to their own mistakes,” said Alexandru Oleinic. ”Regretfully, the sacrificing of the “Moldova Noastra” Alliance turned out to be a kind of raider attack, aimed at removing a player from the political arena, not a strategic step to strengthen the alliance. This is confirmed by the diminishing rating of the party that assimilated the “Moldova Noastra” Alliance and of the entire AEI.” The ex-minister considers that the PCRM’s return to power will be a catastrophe for Moldova, which will block the country’s development for at least eight years more. “I thus call on the voters and all the democratic parties to support the alliance in the second round of the local elections, leaving the troubles, obsessions and personal ambitions aside. The attempts to obtain dividends by staging electoral shows on the last 100 meters will affect not only the parties of the ruling alliance, but also Moldova’s welfare and European future,” Alexandru Oleinic says in his statement.
