Making its debut in the qualifying competition of the UEFA Champions League, Alexandru Gatcan’s team FC Rostov managed to qualify for the playoff round after beating the top ranked team of Belgium Anderlecht, IPN reports.
After the 2-2 scored in Rostov, the vice champion of Russia won a 2-0 victory in Belgium. The Moldovan halfback, who is the captain of the team trained by Kurban Berdyev, played throughout the game. In the first-leg match, Gatcan obtained a penalty for Rostov.
If Rostov does not manage to qualify for UEFA Champions League groups, it will compete in the Europa League groups. Among the Moldovans playing in the European cups, there remained Alexandru Epureanu (Istanbul Bashakshehir) and Catalin Carp (Viitorul Constanta).
