The future parliamentary elections will be marked by the same antidemocratic values that are promoted by the PDM-PSRM duo. The two political parties supported each other in the presidential elections, voted together the mixed-member electoral system and intend to divide the power in the state between them given that they possess administrative resources and control justice, deputy chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) Alexandru Bujorean stated in the public debate “Starting position of political parties and potential independent candidates on alternative pro-European platform before the electoral year” that was held by IPN News Agency.

Alexandru Bujorean said the vote given by the people in 2014 was betrayed and redirected to promote the narrow interests of the PDM and PSRM. “These two parties, especially the PDM, which won only 19 seats of MP, now hold a majority of seats that were obtained by corruption, blackmail, aggressive recruitment and severe public manipulation,” he noted.

According to Alexandru Bujorean, the three authentic opposition parties, the PAS, PPPDA and PLDM, do not have administrative resources and controlled justice, but have something else. “We showed in time our resistance and correctness and that we can be a serious alternative and are immune to blackmail and corruption and that we have people who share these values at the local level and this is the most important,” he stated.

The deputy chairman of the PLDM reiterated his party’s call to the “healthy and opposition” political parties to create a common platform as this is the only real possibility of ousting the current power. The PLDM will not join the PAS-PPPDA bloc with particular preconditions, but the party knows its capacities and its utility because it has particular experience gained in the previous government and deduced the mistakes. “At the same time, we have a clear position that the discussions and official formation of this platform should be completed in a highly qualitative way and swiftly because we must start to work out a common electoral program as no political party in Moldova now speaks about the real problems of the people,” stated Alexandru Bujorean.

In another development, the politician said the three parties should have a common position on the civil society’s initiative to stage a referendum to annul the electoral system change.

The public debate “Starting position of political parties and potential independent candidates on alternative pro-European platform before the electoral year” is the 81st installment of the series of debates “Developing political culture by public debates” that are organized with support from the Hanns Seidel Foundation of Germany.

The next debate entitled “Starting position of political parties and potential independent before the electoral year” will take place in the conference hall of IPN News Agency on November 24, starting at 2pm. This will involve representatives of the unionist dimension of the political landscape.
