Alexandr Stoianoglo surpassed Maia Sandu in Balti

The candidate of the Party of Socialists Alexandr Stoianoglo outdid Maia Sandu in Balti. The former won 34.15% of the vote, while the current President, put forward by the ruling PAS party, gained 21.11% of the ballot, show the preliminary data with 100% of the vote reports in the municipality counted, IPN reports.

The Our Party’s candidate Renato Usatyi ranked third with 18.85% of the vote. 16.46% of those who cast their ballots in Balti voted for independent candidate Irina Vlah.

Former prime minister Vasile Tarlev, nominated by the Party for the Future of Moldova, won 3.97% of the ballot, independent candidate Victoria Furtuna – 2.21%, former prime minister Ion Chicu, the candidate of the Party for Development and Consolidation of Moldova - 1.6%, and independent candidate Natalia Morari – 0.61% of the poll.

Other candidates gained less than 0.5% of the vote.


In total, 51,312 electors voted in the municipality of Balti.
