Alexandr Kalinin, the leader of the Party of Regions of Moldova, said he will soon inform the Prosecutor General’s Office about the US$20 million that Igor Dodon bought from Moscow, as he reported earlier. Alexandr Kalinin asserted that US$ 2 million of this sum was paid to the Taliban for setting free the two Moldovan pilots that were held hostage in Afghanistan. Such statements were made in a news conference at IPN.

The party’s leader noted he has evidence that supports his assertion and he obtained this information from sources from inside the Party of Socialists close to Igor Dodon. These persons do not agree with the policy pursued by President Dodon.

Alexandr Kalinin said the Party of Regions will unveil Igor Dodon’s policy and will show the real goal pursued by the migration amnesty announced by this. Kalinin asked rhetorically why did the Moldovans need to return home? Why wasn’t the problem solved by the migration bodies of Russia, as earlier?

“I want to address the officials of the Russian Federation. I ask them not to support this dishonest policy of the President of Moldova and to give a news conference to announce how the amnesty works and when the Moldovan citizens can return,” stated the politician.

The leader of the Party of Regions called on the people to vote their party that runs under No. 10 in the national constituency in the February 24 parliamentary elections, noting this is a party that pleads for peace.

In a press briefing on February 11, President Igor Dodon announced that the two Moldovan citizens who had been held hostage in Afghanistan since 2015 were set free. These are now at a hospital in Moscow and at the end of this week will be brought to Moldova. The release was possible owing  to the involvement of the Russian administration following an approach made by him.
