Alexander Lukashenko has won a fifth term as President of Belarus with a landslide victory on October 11. According to the preliminary results, Lukashenko won 83.49% of the vote, IPN reports.
On the country’s official website (www.belarus.by), it is said that turnout was 87.2%. 6% of the electors voted against all the candidates.
Alexander Lukashenko, 61, was elected President first in 1994, when he won 80.3% of the poll.
