Alcohol smuggling tackled by government

Illegal selling of Ethanol at the border is monitored by the government. Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Nastase, minister of internal affairs, said that these schemes are mostly operated on the perimeter of the country's eastern border.

According to the deputy prime minister, a series of urgent measures have been initiated both at the border and within the country, by a number of state institutions, in order to combat these schemes.

"Action to prevent and combat these schemes were taken, yet they have not achieved the expected result. Because it is necessary to go to the source of this phenomenon”, said Andrei Năstase.

The deputy prime minister asked for the government's consent to establish tax offices, by the State Tax Service, as to monitor the producers and distributors of ethyl alcohol in order to prevent and stop the illegal activities.
