Alcohol and Speed – a lethal mixture

Four persons were severely injured in three road accidents that occurred over the past 24 hours in Chisinau. According to Chisinau Road Police inspector Ion Roscovanu, a 42-year-old man driving a ZAZ car under the influence of alcohol and without a driver’s license lost control over the vehicle due to which the car capsized, injuring severely the driver and his passenger. Ion Roscovanu warns that alcohol and speed form a lethal mixture and reminds that a fastened seat belt saves the lives of the driver and the passenger in 90 percent of the cases. Another accident involved a Nissan car, driven by a 21-year-old man, who struck a woman, 34. The woman was admitted to hospital with head trauma and concussion. Over the past 24 hours, road police officers fined 423 rule-breakers, including 55 for speeding, 14 for drunk-driving and 37 for jay-walking.
