Radu Albot made a good start at the Challenger tournament that is taking place in Arad, Romania. The best Moldovan tennis player on June 4 beat Canada’s Peter Polansky in the inaugural round by 6-7, 6-3, 6-4, IPN reports.
In the 1/8 finals, Radu Albot will play against the winner of the pair Frank Dancevic of Canada and Flavio Cipolla of Italy.
The good results scored by Albot this year enabled him to become the best tennis player in Moldova and one of the best 200 players of the world. In his career, Albot has won 14 Futures tournaments that are lower in value than the Challenger competitions.
Another member of the national squad Maxim Dubarenko is among the favorers at the Futures tournament in Slovenia. He will play the first match against Croatia’s Matej Svjetlicic.
