Albot beats World No. 18 player in New York

Radu Albot won one of the greatest victories in his career in New York. The Moldovan tennis player reached the quarterfinals of the ATP tournament after defeating American player John Isner, World No.18, IPN reports.

Albot, who now takes the 91th spot in the ATP rankings, beat Isner 7-6, 3-6, 6-3. In the first round, the 28-year-old athlete won against another American player, Bjorn Fratangelo, by two sets. Owing to these victories, Albot will get about US$20,000 in prize money.

In the quarterfinals, the Moldovan tennis player meets Japan’s Kei Nishikori, World No. 27, on February 17. The best position of Kei Nishikori was the fourth spot in the ATP rankings.
