The President’s adviser Ala Nemerenco said the Ministry of Health is not ready for the coming of the COVID-19 vaccines to Moldova. According to her, the Moldovan authorities are not prepared from logistical viewpoint and as regards the bureaucratic aspects for starting the immunization process, IPN reports.

“It does not go to logistics only. I refer to a package of documents, a set of confirmatory letters concerning the entrance of the vaccine into the country and its certification in the Republic of Moldova. The companies that produce vaccines have their standards and rules for the export of the vaccine and for its utilization, in different areas,” Ala Nemerenco stated in the talk show “In Depth” on ProTV Chisinau channel.

The adviser also said that the coming of the COVID-19 vaccines to Moldova was delayed by the lack of a national immunization plan that was approved only a week ago.

“We had to wait for the Ministry to work out the national immunization plan and for this plan to be translated into English,” stated Ala Nemerenco.

The former minister of health noted that the most suitable vaccine for Moldova is the one produced by Moderna, which can be transported at a temperature of -20 degrees Celsius and can be store at temperatures of up to 8 degrees Celsius.

Under the national immunization plan, the COVID-19 vaccine will be administered at public health facilities free of charge. Moldova is to receive donated vaccines and also intends to purchase more shots with state budget funds, the Government’s emergency funds and money from the mandatory health insurance funds for vaccinating the population.
