Director of the National Public Health Agency Nicolae Furtună said that all the necessary measures were taken in Moldova to inform the people about the globally spreading virus. The country is ready for dealing with suspected cases of coronavirus. Measures were also taken to identify the persons arriving in Moldova who can be infected with the novel virus called COVID-19, IPN reports.
However, Nicolae Furtună said it is hard to detect an infected person. The thermoscanners cannot identify those infected owing to the too long incubation period of the disease. This way, during the 14-day incubation period, the infected person does not show signs of infection and cannot be detected.
“There were identified suspected persons at the airport, but doctors didn’t confirm the presence of infection,” Nicolae Furtună stated in the talk show “Black Box” on TV8 channel.
On the other hand, ex-minister of health Ala Nemerenco accuses the authorities of inaction. According to her, the National Exceptional Commission for Public Health convened too late to examine the possible dangers.
“I’m concerned when they say it openly that everything is fine. In France, Germany, the people sound the alarm, but in our country everything is ok. This certainty scares me,” stated Nemerenco.
She noted the citizens in the Republic of Moldova are badly informed about the danger to which they are exposed.
“The people should be told daily about the risks as they do not change the behavior during one day. No information has been broadcast on TV. One measure is not enough. Crowdedness on planes, at the airport should be reduced,” stated Ala Nemerenco.
