The 05:40am plane to Bucharest took off from the Chisinau International Airport in the evening of January 11, with a delay of over 12 hours. Owing to the unfavorable weather conditions, the flight could set off only at 06.09pm. The 02:20pm plane to Bucharest took off at 04:50pm, IPN reports.
The 07:10am aircraft to Kiev could take off only at 07:56pm. According to the online schedule of the Airport, many of the flights were operated with delays of several hours towards evening, when the snowfall was less heavy. Flights from the Airport were operated until close to 01:00am. In the morning of January 12, the planes took off with delays of up to an hour.
The Airport’s administration said the intensive snow removal works performed on the runways enable the aircraft to take off and land safely. In unfavorable meteorological conditions, the decision as to landing and takeoff is taken by the crew, according to the regulations of each airline.
