The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry calls on farmers and economic entities that identified corruptible elements in the activity of its employees to use the National Anticorruption Line or the trust line of the Ministry to report such cases. The call was made after a division head of the Ministry was arrested on corruption-related charges, IPN reports.
“The Ministry urges the famers, economic entities and all the people that, while interacting with employees of the Ministry or the subordinate institutions, discovered corruptible elements, requests for bribe or non-fulfillment of the duties by these to call the National Anticorruption Line 08055555 or the Ministry’s trust line 022 232394,” it is said in a press release of the Ministry.
It also says that the operation to arrest the division head by officers of the National Anticorruption Center was coordinated with the Ministry’s administration. The division head, together with a firm director, were arrested following a notification from an employee of the Ministry. The men are suspected of trying to corrupt another division head of the Ministry so that this didn’t support the official position of the Ministry in a trial and adopted a behavior favorable to the firm. It was a lawsuit filed by the Horticulture and Food Technology Institute, managed by the Ministry, against the firm.
The two face up to 15 years behind bars for active corruption.
