Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vasile Bumacov made an internal order to ensure appropriate monitoring of the quality of the wine products exported to Russia. The wines will be certified by competent bodies based on protocols issued by the National Centre for Testing the Quality of Alcoholic Products. State inspectors supervising alcoholic beverages will inspect the exporting companies and will take samples from their production, IPN reports.

Russia’s food safety body Rospotrebnadzor recently expressed its dissatisfaction with the quality of the Moldovan alcoholic products. It warned the Moldovan authorities that the situation of 2006, when the Moldovan wine products weren’t accepted to Russia, may repeat.

Almost 4,000 consignments of ecologic products were exported to Russia so far this year. In four of the consignment supplied recently, Rospotrebnadzor identified irregularities.

In an interview for the press, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Vasile Bumacov said they hold discussions and things shouldn’t be exaggerated. “If irregularities were found, they should be removed. Our producers need the Russian market. So, we must do everything for the products to meet the standards of this market,” he stated.
