Agriculture Ministry denies that animal-breeding sector is close to collapse

The farmers face problems, but the animal-breeding sector is not on the verge of collapse. The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry does not intend to propose importing fodder without paying import duties, as the press reported lately, Agriculture Minister Vasile Bumaov has told Info-Prim Neo. The official said that the information about the collapse of the animal-breeding sector is disseminated with the aim of discrediting the Ministry and represents political frame-up. “Those who are behind these acts forced and convinced somehow an employee of the Ministry to publish incorrect information on the website,” stated Vasile Bumacov. He stressed that though the animal-breeding sector experiences difficulties, no collapse or redundancies are anticipated. On March 2, the official took part in the annual conference of the National Farmers Federation of Moldova and said that they discussed the steps that must be taken to easier overcome the consequences of last year’s drought.
