The Government decided to initiate negotiations on the support agreement concerning the Instrument of Purchasing Gas in Emergencies. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) expressed its readiness to identify a financing mechanism for buying the volumes of natural gas needed by Moldova, IPN reports.
Prime Minister Ion Chicu said the agreement with the EBRD will be negotiated and signed in a move to prevent risks and have an additional guarantee that Moldova will not remain without natural gas in the cold period of the year.
Attending the Cabinet meeting, the president of the Administration Board of Moldovagaz Vadim Ceban said an agreement will be soon signed with the Russian gas giant Gazprom by which the period of validity of the contract for the supply of natural gas will be extended.
