The agreement on the formation of the Alliance for European Integration 3 was signed by the leaders and MPs of the Liberal Democratic Party, the Democratic Party and the Liberal Party on July 23. The event also involved members of the interim Cabinet, IPN reports.

The leader of the PLDM Vlad Filat said the negotiations were not at all easy. The objective that is to be achieved now derives from people’s wishes. “Reforms must be done in a responsible manner and with direct impact on the situation in the country. We need to fulfill a series of conditions for restoring and simultaneously improving our relations with the development partners. We need palpable results that would be felt by every citizen,” he stated.

The leader of the PDM Marian Lupu said the Alliance for European Integration was formed around a cause, which is the European integration and European development of Moldova. “The alliance we set up today is aimed at making the country stronger before challenges, both internal and external ones. I think that each of the three member parties showed wisdom and pragmatism in the process of creating the Alliance for European Integration 3,” he stated.

The chairman of the Liberal Party Mihai Ghimpu said the signing of the accord means not only the re-formation of the Alliance for European Integration, but also a guarantee that the European course will be continued as without this course Moldova does not have a future. “Maybe some will be dissatisfied when they will read the accord, but the people should understand that they voted for a concrete program of a party, but the program remains unmodified when this party has a majority of 51 seats of MP and can form the government by itself. When there are two or three parties, two or three programs are discussed and a consensus is reached,” he stated.

The three leaders didn’t make statements for the press after the signing of the accord. They didn’t make public the name of the candidate for Prime Minister either. The three will have a new meeting later today, at 7pm. Afterward the head of state will continue the consultations focusing on the appointment of the new Government. The President is to discuss the candidate for premiership with all the parliamentary groups.
