Ion Ceban, Alexandr Stoianoglo, Ion Chicu, and Mark Tkaciuk signed today the agreement establishing the political bloc Alternativa. The agreement is based on a shared understanding that European integration is a path of development that should only be pursued through genuinely democratic means, for the benefit of citizens.

At a press conference held at IPN, the bloc’s representatives declared their commitment to the goals of European integration, the peaceful reintegration of the country, social progress, and the economic modernization of the Republic of Moldova. According to the signed document, only through joint efforts can society overcome internal political division, confrontation, economic degradation, and constant social decline.

The leader of the National Alternative Movement (MAN), Ion Ceban, who is also the mayor of Chisinau, stated that one of the most effective instruments for such an approach at the national level is the process of political, social, and economic integration into the European space. This process, by its very nature, requires politicians to find common ground, reach compromises, and avoid conflicts.

"We are convinced that the European integration of the Republic of Moldova is the most important constructive challenge for Moldovan society and its political class—a challenge capable of uniting citizens with the most diverse opinions," said the MAN leader, quoting from the signed agreement.

Former Prosecutor General Alexandr Stoianoglo stated that it is regrettable that such an understanding of the country's modernization is lacking in the Republic of Moldova. "It is extremely important to consolidate the efforts of capable political groups that see European integration as a responsible choice and an effective path to modernization, rather than as a populist façade for dictatorial experiments or a pretext for artificially created regional chaos," said the former presidential candidate.

Former mermer of the Parliament Mark Tkaciuk, one of the leaders of the Civic Congress party, emphasized that people on both sides of the Dniester River must unite around a common vision for the country’s development. He pointed out that shared problems - such as deep poverty affecting everyone, high prices, and environmental issues - require collective efforts to find solutions.

The leader of the Party for the Consolidation and Development of Moldova, former Prime Minister Ion Chicu, called for responsibility and unity, given the dire situation in the country.

Through this agreement, the signatories commit to strengthening coordination in jointly approving and advancing key projects in state development, socio-economic policies, and humanitarian initiatives. They also pledge to develop a common policy for the peaceful and definitive resolution of the Transnistrian issue. Additionally, the agreement highlights the need for coordinated efforts in drafting a policy of responsible neutrality and securing international guarantees for the security of the Republic of Moldova.
