Chisinau and Moscow discussed aspects of the bilateral cooperation in the context of the creation of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area between Moldova and the European Union. In the consultations, the provisions of the accord were presented in detail so as to ensure transparency in the bilateral relations and elucidate all the unclear points of this document, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the Ministry of Economy.

The participants in the consultations considered the compatibility of the Free Trade Agreement signed in St. Petersburg on October 18, 2011 with the Agreement on the Creation of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area between Moldova and the EU. The Moldovan delegation said that Moldova will be able to have a facilitated trade regime with both of the markets of strategic importance.

At the same time, the elimination of the quantitative restrictions by the EU and the process of reducing/annulling the customs duties on import and export create new prospects and represent a stimulus for foreign investors. At the request of the Moldovan side, representatives of the Transnistrian region were invited to the meeting. The delegation of Moldova included representatives of competent institutions, including the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, the Customs Service, and the National Food Safety Agency.
