The Agency for Consumer Protection and Market Supervision is being reorganized into the State Inspectorate for the Supervision of Non-Food Products and Consumer Protection, an administrative authority under the Ministry of Economy. The Inspectorate will ensure the implementation of state policy, the exercise of market surveillance activities and state control in the areas of competence, in the manner established and within the limits provided by the regulatory framework.
The inspectorate will deal with market surveillance of non-food products, consumer protection, state supervision of gambling activities. It will control compliance with licensing terms according to its authority.
The changes in the organizational structure were needed in order to coordinate and organize the institution’s activity in a clearer, more efficient and transparent manner, the Agency said in a press release.
