The Party of Socialists (PSRM) on May 1 entered the election campaign prior to the June 14 general local elections. The PSRM’s candidates for the posts of Chisinau councilor were presented in an event held after the social equity march mounted by the party on the International Workers’ Day, IPN reports.
Members of the PSRM, alongside sympathizers, went on a march from the Great National Assembly Square along the streets of Chisinau to the Afghan Heroes Park in Rascani district of Chisinau, where a stage was set up. In an event after the march, the PSRM presented its candidates for the posts of municipal councilor. Among these are MPs Ion Ceban and Vlad Batrancea, ex-health minister Larisa Catrinici, and ex-foreign minister Andrei Stratan. The candidate for the mayoralty of Chisinau Zinaida Grecheanyi spoke about the main objectives of her electoral program.
The leader of the PSRM Igor Dodon said the Socialists will be present in all the electoral constituencies and will field over 10,000 candidates. “Zinaida Grecheanyi is the Party of Socialists’ candidate for the post of mayor general of Chisinau municipality, who will be under No. 2 on the ballot for the June 14 local elections, while our candidates for the posts of Chisinau councilor will be under No. 4 on the ballot,” he stated.
According to the organizers, the march involved over 20,000 people.
