The election of Iurie Leanca as Prime Minister is the last chance for the former political allies to remain in power. After possible early elections, the PLDM, PDM and PL will be in the opposition, stated invitees to the program “Fabrika” produced by PublikaTV channel, IPN reports.

Politologist Nicolae Tsveatkov said that Iurie Leanca is the last chance for the democratic parties to remain in power, but he does not believe that Leanca will be voted in as Prime Minister by Parliament on May 30. “He may be voted in, but not this Thursday. They may want to gain time for early elections or they prolong the negotiations in order to accumulate votes,” he stated.

Political analyst Corneliu Ciurea said that the members of the former ruling alliance risk their careers in both cases, either they vote for Iurie Leanca or not. “They risk shifting to the opposition. If they do not manage to distribute the institutions, somebody again may win and somebody may not. But I don’t think that the early elections would be a tragedy for Vlad Filat,” he said.

In the same connection, political analyst Arcadie Barbarosie said that after the negotiations, Vlad Filat decided to present himself in a manner that favors him. If early elections take place now, the three parties – the PLDM, PDM, and PL – will go to the opposition.

Lawyer Teodor Carnat said that they expected that Iurie Leanca will meet with representatives of civil society to see if certain persons deserve being ministers. “This wasn’t done and I’m thus inclined to think that this Government will be like the previous ones,” he stated, adding that civil society is disappointed at the way in which the negotiations are held.
