A new piano, of Steinway & Sons model, was purchased for the Organ Hall. According to the institution, this event marks a historic moment for the concert institution and for the entire artistic community of the Republic of Moldova, given that the last time the hall was provided with a concert piano was 38 years ago, back in the Soviet period.

The purchase of the piano was possible thanks to the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Moldova and the Foundation for the Development and Support of Social Initiatives ALT. The investments were 50:50%, the piano costing €260,000.

"It is among the top musical instruments in the world. In the category of Steinway musical instruments, this model is in first place. We want this instrument to inspire artists and delight the public through exceptional concerts," said Minister of Culture Sergiu Prodan.

"The purchase of this grand piano is a dream come true, after almost two decades of efforts and endeavors. We are happy that, finally, we were heard", said Larisa Zubcu, general manager of the Organ Hall.

"Through this project, we continue to support cultural development and partnerships between public institutions and civil society," said Aliona Grossu, administrator of ALT Foundation.

Sergiu Prodan told IPN that discussions are still taking place for the purchase of other instruments needed by artists.

"Now we are in negotiations with the same partner for the purchase of other musical instruments. We will examine the requests of all our orchestras for expensive, special instruments, which we could not afford until now," noted the minister.

The inauguration ceremony also included musical recitals by two pianists. Polina Osetinskaya performed on some of the most prestigious stages in the world, being recognized for her profound performances and impeccable technique. Martina Meola, who is from the Republic of Moldova, at the age of only 9 was admitted to "Giuseppe Verdi" Conservatory in Milan, where she continued her studies. At the end of 2024, her talent was recognized by the prestigious brand Steinway & Sons.
